All Sitka jackets have never let me down. I wear them out and buy more. The biggest reason is because they have what fits me best. I need long and tall and athletic build and that’s this. Even if I didn’t hunt I would want their tall jackets.
Well designed, singular function gear- not for me.
I use a range of Sitka "modularized" gear including waist and full backpacks and bino harnesses. I appreciate them for their design and durability. While the Turkey Belt is a well thought out piece of gear, its entire configuration is organized around one piece of essential turkey hunting tackle- the box call. The side loaded box call "cavity" takes up 80% of the main compartment's carry capacity. If you are looking for gear dedicated pack to the safe transport of your box call- this is it. If you are looking for a waist pack to fill a general hunting needs- to stow and carry a variety of small hunting items and gear, buy a pack and cushined seat.
These are probably my new favorite socks winter socks. I plan on buying a couple more pairs when the weather turns again. They are very warm, mitigate my feet sweat really well, provided plenty of plush comfort when wearing them alol day and aren’t scratchy like some of my older wool socks were. They aren’t overly bulky so they fit into my boots perfectly. My only regret is that I didn’t buy any sooner.
These things are absolutely amazing. They were loose enough that I can still bend down, squat, and move without any issues but still tight enough they layered extremely well with no pressure points or anything from the fabric bunching up under my clothes. The foot cuffs are a genius idea and don’t dig into my feet at all when I’m wearing my boots. It also keeps the bibs from bunching up as I put my waders on or even going into my boots under my brush pants. I bought this to wear during the winter trapping season and it was invaluable. Kept me warm without being overly bulking allowing me to break ice, drive stakes or whatever I needed to do to keep my trap line up. The straps are comfortable and keep the bibs in the proper position regardless of the position you yourself wind up being. The zipper makes going to the bathroom fairly easy when layered up as well
This shirt is made of thick soft, somewhat stretchy fabric giving it a comfortable feel. It’s triple stitched in most seams so the manufacturing is quality. The colors are vibrant and look great. Like the Foothills long sleeve t-shirt this is a great cool season shirt that you can comfortably add more outer layers to. If it were made in the USA I’d give it five stars.
Great pull over. One of my favorites behind the original dakota hoody. My only wish is the chest pocket was bigger to fit my iPhone and if it had pockets lower
Great bag for 1 to 4 nite stays. Built tough like I expected with a great zipper.
Bought this one for my wife since she was always wanting to use mine.
This is a great piece for summers out in the boat. The colors are really sharp. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. I also love the advantage of the sun protection so I don't have to put on sticky sun-screen. It does fit a little more like a base layer. I am a Large in most everything Sitka, but I needed to exchange it for an XL as I wanted it with a little more room.
Very hard to get on and in soles were not very comfortable. Once I changed out the in soles they were great for walking the dog in therain/snow and kept my feet dry. .
Let me start off by saying this is an amazing hoodie. Had they had a tall size available I would’ve given this thing 5 stars. It is deceptively warm given how thin it is. The gortex is truly wind proof and that makes a world of difference on comfort and warmth. I love the pockets, the large kangaroo pouch is very handy.
As I said above I gave this 4 stars because of the sizing. The 2xl fit me alright around my gut and in the shoulders, but it was short and the sleeves were also short. I sized up to the 3xl and it fit really well despite being a bit baggy now. The shortness I could live with because I wore this with bibs 90% of the time so it’s understandable on the length. The sleeves being too short about had me not buying it initially. Speaking of sleeves I like the angle cut on the cuffs and they are not super restrictive in the shoulder area. I had pretty well full range of motion the entire time. Which is important for what I bought it for.
I bought this along with some of the heavy weight socks, the gradient cold weather bibs and a set of the delta hunting waders. I wore that combo pretty well every day over the winter trapping season while I was checking my traps in and around my ponds. I was frequently in and out of the water and that combo kept me very warm. I could have water turning to ice on the outside of the hoodie from me getting into the water to sort out my beaver traps and I was still warm. Now is it completely waterproof? No, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s what my waders were for. This does a very good job of being water resistant though and having the water bead up on the outside of the hoodie was nice because I would just shake my arms and the vast majority of the water just shake off. This thing is amazing for its size and didn’t hinder my movements at all setting traps or punching holes in ice whenever I needed to. It’s also fairly lightweight so I didn’t feel like I dragging around a bunch of extra weight when walking the trap line. I honestly like this thing enough that I had heavily considered buying this in the solid coyote color and keeping it to wear around town and to work and leaving my Carhartt super dux jacket at home unless it was really cold. If they made it in the tall sizes I might’ve actually done it. All in all though this is amazing for being somewhat active in down even into the teens with the combo I was wearing with it. If I was wearing it in a duck blind not moving around I might need something a little thicker, but for my needs this thing was about perfect.
I live in northern Michigan and needed a new winter coat this last year. I must say this jacket is great! Warm, waterproof and stylish. I wear it every day from December thru March and it works great as a ski/snowboarding jacket as well.
